The following schedule will be observed:

  • 7:30 AM – CALL TIME for Category A and B Participants
  • 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM – TESTING OF PIANO for Category A Participants (4 Minutes Allotment)
  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM – TESTING OF PIANO for Category B Participants (4 Minutes Allotment)

FESTIVAL 2020: POSTPONED

BB Teaser Festival Bold

The DepEd has issued a memorandum in response to the threat of the 2019-nCoV global outbreak. In order to ensure the safety of all participants and family members, and teachers, the Executive Board and Festival Committee has decided to POSTPONE the event until further notice.

The Board and Committee regrets any inconveniences caused to everyone’s schedules because of this. Rest assured that the event will push through.

ROSS SALVOSA In a Solo Recital

ROSS SALVOSA

Ross Salvosa is one of the most sought-after teachers in the Pacific Northwest. He is a seasoned adjudicator and has served in the juries of national and international piano competitions including the Seattle International Piano Festival and Competition and the National Music Competitions for Young Artists. He is renowned for developing prodigious talents from early formative ages to professional artists. He frequently gives masterclasses in Canada, USA, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and the Philippines. He is the director of the Concord Institute of Performing Arts in Vancouver-BC and also an artist-faculty at the Chopin Academy of Music in Issaquah-Washington. He is a senior advisor to the board of the Vancouver Clef Music Society and has served as artistic director of the Music Without Borders Society.

He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of British Columbia and was recipient of the Mildred Johnson scholarship award under the guidance of Corey Hamm, Sara Buechner, Mark Anderson, Kenneth Broadway and Ralph Markham. He earned is Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University on a full scholarship under the tutelage of Roberta Rust. He also studied with Philip Evans, Maria Rosa Oubiña, Frida Conn, Reynaldo Reyes, Emilio del Rosario, Mauricia Borromeo, Perla Suaco, Ruby Salvosa, Abelardo Galang and Artemio Panganiban.

Manila Pianos Artist Series in cooperation with the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation Inc. present Ross Salvosa in a piano recital on Saturday, 1 February 2020 at 7:00 PM. He will interpret Chopin’s 12 Etudes, Op. 10 & Ballade No. 1, Op. 23, Ginastera’s Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 22. Tickets prices: P500.00 regular patron, P200.00 student with ID. All proceeds to benefit the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines.

This 2020 will be Beethoven’s 250th birthday, and the Piano teachers Guild of the Philippines shall host a Piano Festival: Beethoven and Beyond.

The Audition Dates shall be on 12 January 2020 at the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Music (TENTATIVE) (8:00 AM to 2:00 PM), and Little Clarion School BGC Branch (3:00 PM to 5:30 PM)

Participants may perform:

  • Pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven.
  • Any standard Classical Piano Literature

The Festival dates are on 16 and 23 February 2020. Venue TBA.

GUIDELINES. PLEASE READ!

  • ELIGIBILITY
    • Open for ALL students under 30 years of age of members or non-members of PTGPFI.
  • AUDITION
    • All participants must undergo an audition before they are entered into the official roster of festival performers.
    • Participants must fill out the Audition Form before they proceed with the audition. The forms are formatted on an 8×13 (LONG) sized paper. Forms may be downloaded below. Forms at the audition venue will have a fee.
    • Online form only for scheduling purposes. Forms may be accessed below.
    • IMPORTANT!! BRING A 2×2 ID PHOTO, ON A WHITE BACKGROUND. SELFIES ARE NOT ALLOWED. (It would be preferable to have the photo taken professionally.) TEACHERS ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO GIVE A PHOTO. PRINT YOUR NAME LEGIBLY ON THE BACK OF THE PHOTO. (We recommend that let the ink dry before applying it on any surface to ensure a clean photo.)
      • You may send your photos at festival.ptgpfi@gmail.com and wait for an acknowledgment email.
      • UPDATE: Photos should be taken within SIX (6) months only. We will be checking reused photos from previous festivals and will AUTOMATICALLY NOT INCLUDE REUSED PHOTOS.
      • Photos with bad quality will also AUTOMATICALLY NOT BE INCLUDED. However, we will contact the participant to submit a new photo.
      • IMPORTANT!!! THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE WILL NO LONGER CONTACT PARTICIPANTS WITHOUT A PHOTO. THIS IS FINAL. The logo of PTGP will be put in place of your photo.
    • ONLINE AUDITION: Those residing outside Metro Manila may opt for a video audition. The video should have a short introduction with the following information: (1) Participant’s name; (2) Teacher’s name; and (3) Title of work to be played. Videos may be uploaded on video sharing sites (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or on online drives (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and should be sent at festival.ptgpfi@gmail.com with the subject “ONLINE AUDITION – (NAME OF PARTICIPANT)” (In all caps), and wait for an acknowledgment email.
    • A non-refundable audition fee of PHP 1,000 should be settled not later than the chosen audition date.
    • For Ensembles, The audition fee is divided among the participants (e.g. 2 participants will pay only PHP 500 each, 4 participants PHP250 each). If some/all of the participants of the ensemble will perform Solo pieces, that will be a different fee.
    • Payments may be made in cash or be deposited through the Guild’s Bank Account:

      • Account Number: 171-031393-001
    • Those who deposited the fee should give a photocopy of the deposit slip alongside the form on the day of the audition. Kindly write the name of the participant for proper documentation.
    • Walk-in auditions may be entertained only until 1:00 PM.
  • REPERTOIRE (UPDATED)
    • For SOLO PERFORMERS: Performance is limited to:
      • ANY NUMBER OF SHORT WORKS (no repeats) NOT EXCEEDING FIVE MINUTES (or if in case of a short multi-movement work, e.g. a Sonatina, should NOT EXCEED FIVE MINUTES)
      • ONE (1) movement from a MAJOR multi-movement work (if movement exceeds FIVE MINUTES, e.g. Beethoven – Grande Sonate Pathetique – Op. 13, 1st Movement)
      • TWO (2) movements/sections of a MAJOR WORK or SET if the duration PER PIECE DOES NOT EXCEED FIVE MINUTES (e.g. Chopin – Étude Op. 10 no. 5, and Chopin – Valse Op. 64 no. 1)
      • ONE (1) Major Work (CAN EXCEED FIVE MINUTES, Chopin – Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante – Op. 22)
    • FOR ENSEMBLES: Performance is limited to
      • ANY NUMBER OF SHORT WORKS SHORT WORKS (no repeats) NOT EXCEEDING FIVE MINUTES.
      • ONE (1) movement from a multi-movement work (SEE ABOVE CONDITIONS)
      • ONE (1) Major Work (SEE ABOVE CONDITIONS)
  • OTHER PROVISIONS: 
    • Schedules are drafted by the Festival Committee and will be uploaded a few days before the festival for proofreading.
    • In case of changes in schedule, you may email festival.ptgpfi@gmail.com only until 20 January 2020.
    • There will be a corresponding penalty of PHP 300 for changes in schedule after said date
    • NO SCHEDULE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED BY THE COMMITTEE DURING THE FESTIVAL. This is final. ALL participant must arrive at least FIFTEEN (15) minutes before the schedule. If you are late with your performance, your slot will be carried over to the next scheduled programme. This is to ensure the flow of the presentation.
