The Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. is hosting this Piano Competition aimed for pianists under 30 years of age in FIVE (5) categories to commemorate the 250th Birth Anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, a central image in all of Western Music.
Initially, this was scheduled for September 2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic that brought the world to a standstill in mid-March 2020, PTGPFI delayed its implementation. Now, it will be done virtually this April-May 2021.
The guidelines for the piano competition have been finalized. Please see the document below.
The Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation Inc., will host its first Online Piano Festival on March 2021 with the theme “Beethoven and Beyond”.
OBJECTIVES:
To foster a culture of high-level piano performance in the Philippines;
To provide an avenue for young pianists to perform in a non-competitive atmosphere;
To demonstrate the richness of piano music written by Ludwig van Beethoven who celebrated his 250th birthday last year; and
To encourage parents, teachers, and students to support online performances.
The guidelines for the piano festival have been finalized. Please see the document below.
Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer and a pianist, a crucial figure in the transition between the classical and romantic era in classical music, remains as one of the most recognized and influential musicians of this period, and is considered to be one of the greatest composers of all times.
In 2020, we celebrated the 250th Birth Anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. And to commemorate this special occasion, PTGP had planned a series of piano festival and a competition ‘Beethoven and Beyond.’ After its postponement last year due to Covid-19 crisis, we are happy to be hosting these two major events online this year, 2021!
