The First Piano Ensemble Competition

 

We are pleased to announce the PTGP 2013 PIANO ENSEMBLE COMPETITION.
Here is a quick view of some important information for this year’s competition.
  • The competition is open to all pianists not over 30 years of age by October 20, 2013.
  • There will be four (4) categories per piece’s level of difficulty.
  1. Early Beginner Level (8 years old and below)
  2. Elementary Level (12 years old and below)
  3. Intermediate Level (18 years old and below)
  4. Advanced Level (30 years old and below)
  • The competition shall consist of two rounds: Preliminary Round- October 20, 2013; Final Round- October 27, 2013
  • Applicants must perform two (2) ensemble works of contrasting styles by different composers.
  • Registration fee is Php 800.00 per participant (not per team)
  • Deadline of application: August 15, 2013

2013 Piano Festival

Dear Teachers and Students,

This is to announce that our annual piano festival will be held on 18 August and 25 August 2013, venue to be announced.

The theme for this year’s festival is Musical Nationalism. The suggested repertoire will consist of folk melodies, rhythms, dances, harmonies, instruments, musical forms, and themes from folklore and history that celebrate the cultural and musical identity of a nation.

Musical nationalism is a musical style initially developed by 19th century composers and adapted by later century composers. On the other hand, pieces that are not identified with this nationalistic style are welcome. As in the past festivals, popular “pop” music is not included. However, pianistic transcriptions of other classical music genres are welcome.

Auditions will be on 23 and 30 June 2013, 9am till 12noon at St. Scholastica’s College Manila. Registration fee is 800php per participant.

Walk-in auditions will be accommodated on a first come-first served basis. Payments will be accepted on the audition dates 23 and 30 June 2013.
