MANILA, Philippines – The newly elected officers and board members of the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (PTGPFI) for the fiscal years 2014-2016 were inducted into office last June 22 at the Glee Club Room of St. Paul University Manila with SPUM College of Music and Performing Arts dean Sr. Maria Annunciata Sta. Ana, SPC, as the inducting officer.

The new officers are: Mary Anne Espina, president; Anthony Say, 1st vice-president; Melissa Taqueban, 2nd vice-president; Eloise Gonzalo, secretary; Jan Briane Astom, assistant secretary; Dr. Meriam Macalisang, treasurer; George Ong, assistant treasurer; Irene Peralejo, PRO; Reubel Uy, assistant PRO; and board members Mauricia Borromeo, Cecile Roxas, Gemma Malicdem, Ingrid Chua-Lao, Lourdes Guillen, and Ya-shu Lin.

Officers and board members are expected to perform a wide range of duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to, organizing festivals and competitions aimed at showcasing the talents of young and promising pianists in the country and arranging seminars and master classes for the continuing education of piano teachers.

Now approaching its 42nd year, the PTGPFI has been recently recognized as a Foundation by the Securities and Exchange Commission,  granting it more leeway to carry out its functions as the premier and only professional organization for piano teachers here in the Philippines.
